Matt Tegenkamp, a 2000 Lee’s Summit High School graduate, qualified for the Olympic finals in the 5,000-meter race by winning his preliminary heat Wednesday in Beijing.

About six weeks ago former Lee’s Summit High School graduate Matt Tegenkamp took the first step toward possible Olympic greatness, qualifying for the Beijing Olympics in the 5,000-meter run.

A series of meetings that may have eased the tension between the R-7 School District and the Lee’s Summit Autism Support Group have been put on hold after members of the LSASG protested a conference at which an R-7 official was speaking.
